The Detroit Publishing Company’s business relied on the creative use and re-use of images and finding new markets for them.  The same image might appear in a souvenir view book, in promotional literature, as a postcard or lantern slide or as a print “suitable for framing.”  These products were then promoted to the travel industry, educators, librarians, and the armchair traveler.

Wolverine Manufacturing Company catalogue page, about 1910.  Many companies hired the Detroit Publishing Company to produce the photography for their sales catalogues.
