The Victory Garden Times - A Publication of Henry Ford Museum
Vol.1 December 1999 No. 1

Citizens received a lot of advice on making and growing a Victory Garden from periodicals such as Life, etc. These magazines printed how-to articles and other informational material.

Patriotism played a role in thriftiness as well as in production. The Detroit Free Press advised readers that 'Wasting seed is as great a crime as wasting steel.'

American citizen answered the need and more than 1/2 of all Americans kept Victory Gardens!
