Behind the Scenes Tours
Three Tours are Available
Our tours are designed for groups who are interested in going behind the scenes at the Henry Ford. Get a closer look at some of The Henry Ford's most precious collections, such as Thomas Edison's patent models, folk art and paintings, the personal and business papers of Henry Ford, domestic textiles such as quilts and coverlets, and couture fashion and accessories. Experience the work and expertise of our Conservation staff as they preserve The Henry Ford’s treasures. Or take a guided tour through our early photography collections and check out early images and how they were produced.
- General Benson Ford Research Center Tour
- Conservation Laboratory Tour
- Early Days of Photography Tour
Each program lasts 90 minutes. Tours are available seven days a week between 10am and 7pm. We can accommodate 15 people per tour. The fee is $150 for up to 15. For more than 15 people, a second time slot will need to be booked.

Individuals who would like access to The Henry Ford’s collections which cannot be accommodated in the usual ways (such as viewing exhibits on display, using online collections, or researching materials in the public Reading Room) can request an appointment with Special Access staff.
For more information on this fee-based program, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or use our online form. Please note that two weeks notice is generally required to make arrangements for a Special Access visit.
