Philadelphia's Centennial International Exhibition of 1876 celebrated the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Around ten million people attended the fair and many returned home with mementos of their visit. Some souvenirs, like this commemorative medal, contain the image of George Washington -- Revolutionary War general and hero and America's first president.
