Styling Shop Mural Study, by Jack Keijo Steele, circa 1955

01

Artifact Overview

This sketch for a mural shows the construction of full-scale clay models used to evaluate design explorations. The artist, a clay modeler in the Ford design studio, captured the collaborative spirit, intensity, and urgent creativity of a design department. Like many clay car designs, this sketch exists only as a study -- the mural it was sketched for was never produced.
