Innovation 101 is a unique and dynamic digital educational module that uses oral history interviews of some of America’s iconic innovators (past and present). It is brought to you by The Henry Ford as a critical component of their commitment to helping other educators to engage students in developing 21st century skills. This five day, 45-minutes-a-day lesson is designed to be easy to implement and to develop students’ critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity.
The module is designed to use the following multipronged teaching approach each day to engage and impact all types of learners:
Audio-visual context setter
Debate & dialogue
Reflection & reiteration
Post-unit research and reflective writing
The module is aligned with national standards in the subject areas of Social Studies; English Language Arts; Educational Technology; Science, Technology, Engineering , and Math (STEM); Career and Employability; and 21st Century Skills. If today’s students are going to continue America’s legacy as a world leader of innovation, they need to see themselves as the next Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Steve Wozniak, or Martha Stewart. The Henry Ford’s innovation curriculum will help them gain and hone the skills they will need.
