- Blickensderfer Portable Typewriter, Model 8, 1908-1909 - George Blickensderfer's typewriters combined a user-friendly keyboard with the lightweight technology of a cylindrical typewheel. In the 1890s, the DHIATENSOR keyboard challenged the QWERTY layout-the layout of the first commercially successful typewriter, the Sholes & Glidden. DHIATENSOR proponents claimed it reduced stuck keys and increased typing efficiency. This typewriter may have been used by botanist Luther Burbank.

- Blickensderfer Desk Typewriter, Model No. 5, 1893-1896 - George Blickensderfer's typewriters combined a user-friendly keyboard (rather than an index) with the lightweight technology of a cylindrical typewheel. In the 1890s, Blickensderfer's DHIATENSOR keyboard layout challenged the QWERTY layout, the layout of the first commercially successful typewriter, the Sholes and Glidden. DHIATENSOR, argued George Blickensderfer, avoided stuck keys and increased typing efficiency.

- Eagle Bicycle, 1891 - The Eagle Bicycle Manufacturing Company built this high-wheel safety in 1891. The Connecticut company copied other manufacturers by placing the small wheel up front and the large drive wheel in back -- preventing the dreaded "header." Still, it was difficult to mount; cyclists had to swing their leg over the large wheel. Low-mount safeties with equal-sized wheels solved this problem.
