He was an only child, so Edsel's parents -- Henry and Clara Ford -- made sure that he spent lots of time with his cousins and other extended-family members. When young Edsel wasn't in school, he could be found working at Ford Motor Company's Piquette Avenue plant in Detroit.

- Portrait of Henry Ford and Edsel Ford at Their Home on Bagley Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, 1896 - Edsel Bryant Ford, the only child of Henry Ford and Clara Bryant Ford, was born November 6, 1893. Here two-year-old Edsel poses for the camera on his father's lap. The photo was taken outside the Bagley Avenue duplex that Henry and Clara rented in Detroit. In the shed behind the house, Henry built his Quadricycle in 1896.

- Ford Family Cottage at Harbor Beach, Michigan, September 1921 - About 1914, Clara and Henry Ford purchased a summer cottage at Harbor Beach, Michigan, located on Lake Huron about 125 miles north of Detroit. The couple sometimes sailed to the cottage aboard their yacht <em>Sialia</em>. Later, their son Edsel stayed at Harbor Beach with his own family. In 1929, Clara and Henry began summering in Michigan's Upper Peninsula instead.

- Henry Ford in the Backyard of His Alexandrine Avenue Home in Detroit, Michigan, 1895-1899 - Clara Ford took this picture of Henry in the backyard of their rented home at 72 East Alexandrine Avenue in Detroit. The Fords lived there in 1897, 1898, and 1899. During this time Ford completed construction of his second horseless carriage.
