Shelby's team removed the back seat, upgraded the suspension and brakes, and increased the 289 V-8 engine's output to 300 horsepower. Shelby built 562 Mustang GT350 cars that first model year -- 36 being the even more potent 360-horsepower GT350R competition variant.
