- Letter from John D. Rockefeller Jr. to Edsel Ford regarding Property at Seal Harbor, Maine, December 21, 1922 - In 1922, Edsel Ford purchased property in Seal Harbor, Maine, and began building his family's summer home. Philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Jr., a fellow resident of the area, wrote congratulating Edsel on his selection -- the property offered the Fords splendid scenic views of the Maine coast. The letter initiated a friendship between the two that led to partnerships on various charitable causes.

In 1922, Edsel Ford purchased property in Seal Harbor, Maine, and began building his family's summer home. Philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Jr., a fellow resident of the area, wrote congratulating Edsel on his selection -- the property offered the Fords splendid scenic views of the Maine coast. The letter initiated a friendship between the two that led to partnerships on various charitable causes.

Rockefeller, Jr. Thanking Henry Ford for the Invitation to Light's Golden Jubilee, November 4, 1929 - On October 21, 1929, Henry Ford hosted an event, Light's Golden Jubilee, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of Thomas Edison's invention of the incandescent lamp. John D. Rockefeller, Jr., had planned to stay with Edsel Ford, but when Edsel's son was taken ill, Henry and Clara Ford invited Rockefeller to stay with them. In this letter, Rockefeller thanked the Fords for their "great kindness and delightful hospitality."

On October 21, 1929, Henry Ford hosted an event, Light's Golden Jubilee, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of Thomas Edison's invention of the incandescent lamp. John D. Rockefeller, Jr., had planned to stay with Edsel Ford, but when Edsel's son was taken ill, Henry and Clara Ford invited Rockefeller to stay with them. In this letter, Rockefeller thanked the Fords for their "great kindness and delightful hospitality."
