- Mourners Paying Last Respects to Henry Ford, Lovett Hall, Dearborn, Michigan, April 9, 1947 - Henry Ford died on April 7, 1947, at his Fair Lane estate in Dearborn, Michigan. Thousands mourned his death. Before his funeral, Ford's body lay in repose in the lobby of what is now Lovett Hall near Greenfield Village. Many waited in a mile-long line to pay their last respects to the automotive pioneer.

Henry Ford died on April 7, 1947, at his Fair Lane estate in Dearborn, Michigan. Thousands mourned his death. - Ernest R. Breech, Executive Vice-President, Ford Motor Company, circa 1950 - Ernest R. Breech was running automotive supplier Bendix Corporation when Henry Ford II brought him to Ford Motor Company in 1946. Breech served as a mentor to Ford, who had become president of his family's company at age 28. Together, Ford and Breech rebuilt the Ford organization into a modern, publicly traded corporation. Breech resigned from his daily role at Ford in 1960.
