- Pocket Watch, 1840-1860, Carried by Civil War Sergeant James C. Broadwell - According to family tradition, this pocket watch was carried by Sergeant James C. Broadwell during the Civil War. Broadwell fought with Company F of the 2nd Ohio Infantry Regiment. His company saw action throughout the Tennessee and Cumberland River valleys and fought in the Battle of Atlanta in 1864.

According to family tradition, this pocket watch was carried by Sergeant James C. Broadwell during the Civil War. Broadwell fought with Company F of the 2nd Ohio Infantry Regiment. - Woman Soldier with "Modern Molly Pitchers" Selling War Bonds and Stamps on National Molly Pitcher Tag Day, August 4, 1943 - This photo shows women dressed in patriotic costumes with a Women's Army Corps officer selling war bonds on Molly Pitcher Tag Day, August 4, 1943. "Molly Pitcher" was the symbolic name given to several women who served during the Revolutionary War. They carried water to the troops but were more well-known for fighting alongside other soldiers after their husbands had fallen in battle.

- Canteen, Made for a Massachusetts Militia, circa 1810 - This canteen, called a "cheesebox" for its similarity to boxes made to hold wheels of cheese, identifies the Massachusetts Militia (M.S.). A number of similarly decorated canteens survive. The reverse is labeled N.R., possibly a maker's mark. The O B scratched into the surface may be the militia member's initials or those of a later owner.

Encampment in Detroit, Michigan - The Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.), a Union veterans' organization formed in 1866, held state and national conventions or "encampments" where members could reunite with other Civil War veterans. Encampment attendees paraded through town, gathered at receptions, toured local attractions, and reminisced about shared wartime experiences. The G.A.R. sponsored these meetings for more than 80 years.
