Heinz Company was at the forefront of employee welfare during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Exemplary employee amenities such as a gymnasium, swimming pool, auditorium, and self-improvement classes supported a strong company culture. In the auditorium -- believed to be the first in the country built exclusively for employees -- workers attended concerts, dances, and stage productions.

- Musician's Stage in the Ballroom at Botsford Inn, Farmington, Michigan, 1925 - As a youth during the 1880s, Henry Ford had attended dances at the Botsford Inn, an 1836 tavern on the route from Detroit to Lansing, Michigan. After buying and restoring the building in 1924, Ford held some of his early "old-fashioned" dance parties in the inn's ballroom. This image shows the musicians' stage and the maple dance floor Ford installed there.

As a youth during the 1880s, Henry Ford had attended dances at the Botsford Inn, an 1836 tavern on the route from Detroit to Lansing, Michigan. After buying and restoring the building in 1924, Ford held some of his early "old-fashioned" dance parties in the inn's ballroom.
