- Swimming Pool inside Fair Lane, Dearborn, Michigan, 1951 - In the early 1910s, Henry and Clara Ford selected 1300 acres of farmland in Dearborn, Michigan, as the site for a new house. In 1916, the couple moved into their newly constructed 31,000-square-foot home. The mansion contained 56 rooms including seven bedrooms, fifteen baths, and other standard living spaces. The Fords also had a bowling alley and swimming pool installed.

- Swimming Pool at Fordlandia, Brazil, 1930-1940 - Henry Ford established Fordlandia and Belterra in the Brazilian rainforest to supply rubber for automobile production. He began shipping machinery and supplies to the Amazon in 1928. Ford paid the indigenous workers good wages and supplied various amenities -- he also imposed foreign work traditions and behavioral restrictions which the workers resented. The plantations failed and Ford Motor Company disposed of the project in 1945.
