Instead of automobiles, drivers competed in racing vehicles based on production pickups. Craftsman, the popular brand of tools established by Sears, was the title sponsor from 1995 through 2008. Many young drivers got their start in the truck series before moving up to NASCAR's top-level Cup Series.

- Scott Goodyear, MCI WorldCom 200, Phoenix International Raceway, March 28, 1999 - Canadian driver Scott Goodyear raced in top-level Indy car and sports car competitions over his 14-year career. He competed eleven times in the Indianapolis 500 -- earning second-place finishes in 1992 and 1997 -- and twice in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Goodyear retired from driving in 2001 and became a broadcast commentator for ABC and ESPN.
