- H. J. Heinz Memorial Statue Dedication, "A Golden Day," at Heinz Main Plant, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, October 11, 1924 - H.J. Heinz valued a strong relationship between his company and its employees. This resulted in a world-class employee welfare program which included amenities, programs, and policies with consideration for employees' well-being. In 1924, to commemorate the company's 55th anniversary, employees erected a memorial statue as a token of their gratitude for their employer. This is a program from the celebration, called "A Golden Day."

- Joe Dawson, #2 Marmon, Vanderbilt Cup Race - Two race teams drove Marmon vehicles at the 1911 Vanderbilt Cup Race in Savannah, Georgia. Hopes were high for victory since a Marmon had won at the inaugural Indianapolis 500 earlier in the year. These race cars, however, did not fare as well. The #2 Marmon, driven by Bob Burman, left after seven laps. One lap later, the other Marmon dropped out.

Joe Dawson, #2 Marmon, Vanderbilt Cup Race
Two race teams drove Marmon vehicles at the 1911 Vanderbilt Cup Race in Savannah, Georgia. Hopes were high for victory since a Marmon had won at the inaugural Indianapolis 500 earlier in the year. These race cars, however, did not fare as well. The #2 Marmon, driven by Bob Burman, left after seven laps. One lap later, the other Marmon dropped out.

The firm offered multiple models under the Abbott-Detroit brand, all priced from about $1,200 up to $3,500. Abbott-Detroit cars competed successfully in early circuit races and hill climbs. The company overreached itself by relocating to a larger factory in Cleveland in 1916. Bankruptcy ended operations in early 1918.

From the early-to-mid-1800s, these workers made McAlpin's plantation prosper by producing barrels, lumber, and cast-iron products, and growing rice--but mostly by making bricks at the plantation's brickworks. Enslaved workers built about 50 cabins with this brick--an unusual building material for slave quarters.
