The trees were lightweight, easy to care for, and eye-catching, especially when illuminated by light from a revolving color wheel. The trees fell out of style by the early 1970s, yet are fondly remembered and sometimes still shine in homes during the Christmas season.
- H. J. Heinz Company Private Telegraph Code Book, April 1916 - Before telephones, a telegraph was used to transmit messages. Once sent, the message was written or printed and delivered by hand. This was an expensive mode of communication (often charging per word), encouraging companies to create unique codes for phrases to reduce cost. This Telegraph Code Book was used by the H.J. Heinz Company.

- Invoice from F. & J. Heinz, June 14, 1888 - After having to close his first business in 1875, entrepreneur H.J. Heinz persuaded family members to open a new business called F. & J. Heinz in 1876. H.J. Heinz ran the company behind the scenes while rebuilding his reputation. Within several years, the company flourished, opening branches across the Midwest. This invoice from 1888 shows several of the company's branches.

- Ford Freighter "Lake Benbow" Loaded with Cargo in Chester, Pennsylvania, circa 1929 - Henry Ford purchased 199 surplus World War I merchant ships from the United States government in 1925. Most of these ships were scrapped. But a few, like the <em>Lake Benbow</em>, were refitted into ocean-going freighters. The freighters transported parts and supplies between Ford facilities located in cities along the American seaboard and to the Ford plant in Manchester, England.

But a few, like the Lake Benbow, were refitted into ocean-going freighters. The freighters transported parts and supplies between Ford facilities located in cities along the American seaboard and to the Ford plant in Manchester, England.
