General Motors President Mark Reuss named Board Chair for The Henry Ford

(Dearborn, Mich. – March 7, 2023) – The Henry Ford announced today that General Motors Company president Mark Reuss will succeed Evan Weiner as the institution’s new Board Chair. Weiner, a trustee for The Henry Ford for nearly 20 years, has served as Board Chair since 2009. He will remain a trustee with the institution.

“Mark is a natural choice to not only continue the work of Evan Weiner but to further transform this institution into a place that inspires every individual to innovate, create and invent, “said Patricia Mooradian, president & CEO of The Henry Ford. “As his leadership within GM has proven, he has a passion for innovation and education and he is deeply committed to The Henry Ford and our mission.”

Reuss joined The Henry Ford’s board in 2016. Born and raised in metro Detroit, Reuss often visited The Henry Ford as a child and mentions the institution as a place that influenced his career path.

“Every visit when I was young left me wide-eyed at the history and ingenuity of American innovation on display, and reinforced my innate passion for engineering,” said Reuss. “I’m honored and excited to succeed Evan as Board Chair and I join Patricia and her team in thanking him for his many years of strong leadership and steady guidance. I look forward to this great institution’s next chapter.”

As president of General Motors Company, Reuss is leading GM’s vision of an equitable and sustainable all-electric future within the organization and beyond through its innovative technologies, products and initiatives. He directs the company’s regional operations, including North America, South America, China, and General Motors International. He also oversees GM Defense, GM’s Global Product Development team, Global Design, and Global Quality and Operational Excellence. In addition, Reuss serves on the board of GM China’s joint venture, Shanghai General Motors Co., Ltd., (SGM), and is a member of the GM Senior Leadership Team.
