Maker Faire Detroit
July 25-26, 2015 (9:30am - 6pm)
Tinker, hack and mingle with hundreds of makers during the ultimate festival of invention and creativity at the world’s original Maker mecca — Detroit.
Maker Faire is like a three-ring circus of innovation. Robotics, electronics, rockets, food, music, fashion, science — if somebody makes it, we’ll find a place for it at Maker Faire Detroit. This is, without doubt, one of the most unusual and mind-boggling events to ever find a home in Detroit. Maker Faire is a place where the DIY mindset can run wild. Inspiring and ingenious, with more than a little humor mixed in, this eye-popping gathering is one of the country’s smartest and most extraordinary family-friendly events. Hundreds of exhibiting makers are expected to participate, offering dozens of demonstrations and hands-on workshops for anyone — child or adult — who still has a sense of adventure. Only at the home of innovation, The Henry Ford.

NEW! For the sixth annual event, The Henry Ford has moved the Faire’s outdoor midway from the Henry Ford Museum parking lot to the Lovett Hall lot behind the museum. This new location provides guests more convenient parking opportunities and easier access to makers both inside and outside the museum. A shuttle service sponsored by the University of Michigan-Dearborn will also be available at its Fairlane campus at 19000 Hubbard Dr. in Dearborn.

Make the most of your weekend: Download the FREE Maker Faire® Detroit app.

The call to makers is now closed. Any applications received after the June 8 cut off will be reviewed on a case by case basis as space is limited.

Here's What People Are Saying
The White House Blog: “President Obama is committed to ensuring that America stays competitive in the 21st century global economy by having the most skilled and productive workforce in the world and by leading the world in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education. As the President said at the launch of his Educate to Innovate campaign to improve STEM education, "I want us all to think about new and creative ways to engage young people in science and engineering, whether it's science festivals, robotics competitions, fairs that encourage young people to create and build and invent—to be makers of things, not just consumers of things.” (read more)

Makezine.com: “The world’s only $500 electric motorsport continues on at Maker Faire Detroit! The 2nd round of the 4th season of the Power Racing Series competed on July 28-29 at the Henry Ford Museum. Here are just some of the thrills and spills that went down. I’d like to thank Sector 67, i3 Detroit, Omni Corp Detroit, J-Squad, Pumping Station: One, CCCKC, Ribbon Farm, Hack Pittsburgh, “The Wedding Party”, Velocihacktor, and Milwaukee Makerspace.” (read more)

Celebrity moms stole the spotlight, with Reese Witherspoon showing off her growing bump in brilliant blue and new mom Aishwarya Rai hitting the red carpet and facing her critics in a glamorous Elie Saab gown. Along the way we also saw Heidi Klum, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Connelly and more. And we can forget Jane Fonda, who made 74 years old look pretty damn good in her stunning sequined dress..http://www.windstarcruisesblog.com
