Overview

In the heart of Greenfield Village next to the iconic 19th-century Detroit Central Market, visitors can discover just how delicious food prepared from scratch by chefs using local and sustainable ingredients can be. Stand 44, named for the place in Detroit Central Market where the celebrated huckster Mary Judge sold her items, is a welcoming, light-filled environment where everything from the dishes to the dining room to the behind-the-scenes systems is designed with sustainability in mind. In Stand 44, families can experience for themselves how great food, grown and prepared by creative and caring people, can celebrate and connect them to their own lively, local food communities.

Great care is taken at every level to ensure that we’ll not only serve delicious food but deliver on our values as well. Here, you’ll find chef-crafted entrees alongside a dedication to sustainability in everything from everyday operations to the building itself. We’re proud to note that Stand 44 is LEED-certified, meaning the building has been awarded a globally recognized symbol of sustainability. Plus, all of the waste produced by the restaurant is being composted into a rich soil amendment to be used in our historic farms and gardens.

    Stand 44 Guest Chef Program

    Stand 44's Guest Chef Program invites local culinary talent to take center stage at the Chef’s Table, bringing fresh ideas and seasonal flavors to life within a one-of-a-kind, mission-driven setting.

    Through this rotating residency, guest chefs collaborate with The Henry Ford’s culinary team to create inspired dishes that showcase fresh, seasonal produce. The program offers visitors an ever-evolving dining experience, shaped by the region’s vibrant food community.
