About Detroit Central Market
Originally constructed in 1860 in downtown Detroit, the vegetable shed from the Detroit Central Market now stands fully reconstructed in Greenfield Village.

After a storied 160-plus-year history that included commerce, near-demolition and then reconstruction, the Detroit Central Market became the first historic structure added to Greenfield Village since 2000. Guests can learn more about the historic market's significance by engaging with our village presenters, exploring Detroit Central Market Weekends and more.

Access to Music in the Market and Detroit Central Market Weekends is included with village admission and free for members.

July 18-19: Michigan Pualani Polynesian Dancers

From the teachings of Kumu's "Auntie" Kau'ihealani Mahikoa Brandt and Vicki Stevens, this Michigan-based Polynesian group performs various traditional and inspired dances from multiple Polynesian cultures, including hula and Tahitian. Guests are invited to enjoy a wave of music and dance that explores cultures from all around the South Pacific.

August 29-30: The Saucecats

Masters of Cajun/Zydeco music, a genre largely attributed to southwest Louisiana's Creole culture, this ensemble combines blues and R&B with music indigenous to Louisiana Creoles. Guests will experience up-tempo, syncopated music from the keyboard, bass, sax, accordion and even the washboard!

September 19-20: Finvarra's Wren

Using a mix of strong yet sensitive vocals and exhalating mountain dulcimer, bodhran, accordion and fiddle, this quartet "make[s] the kind of music you'd only expect to hear on the west coast of Ireland" (The Metro Times). As a family band, their bond is evident in both their music and stage presence, as audiences are treated to spontaneous, good-natured banter, jokes and conversation.
