The Henry Ford’s vast collections do more than set the stage for stories of how we have cultivated the land and brought food to table: They give us the perspective and passion to carry those stories forward. Bringing the best of yesterday to today, we are seeking out and nurturing new sources for the foods and ingredients we offer, including local and sustainable sources wherever possible.

In doing so, we’re at the forefront among institutions of our kind. As part of our high-profile Local Roots initiative, we are rapidly closing on our goal of using 80 percent locally sourced products in the food we prepare. This offering includes fresh herbs we grow within the grounds of The Henry Ford.

Local Roots is about good public policy as well as good food: It represents our commitment to local farmers, food producers and distributors—and our recognition that we all have a role to play together in creating a healthy, sustainable local economy.
