- Bicycle Helmet, 1965-1975 - Accidents happen, even on bicycles. Wearing a helmet can help prevent or minimize possible head or brain injuries. Early bicycle helmets, if used at all, were made of hardened materials or leather straps. Plastics replaced these materials, as seen in this hardhat-like helmet from about 1970. Today, a bicycle helmet's design and padding material have evolved to provide increased crash protection.

- Dunham Honeycomb Foundation Machine, 1881-1890 - Mrs. Frances "Fannie" A. Dunham of De Pere, Wisconsin, patented this foundation press to aid honeybees with building comb. The machine pressed beeswax into a prefabricated comb. This theoretically freed bees from some of the labor and honey required to build honeycomb. Instead bees could create a more uniform comb (building from the prefabricated parts), a product more appealing to consumers buying honey.
