- "Guided Missile" Mechanical Bank, circa 1957 - In the years before the space race of the late 1950s, many Americans viewed outer space exploration as fantasy and science fiction. Children's space toys--including banks--reflected those futuristic visions. This "Guided Missile" bank, made by Astro Manufacturing about 1957, contains a spring-loaded mechanism that launched a coin into a slot in the underside of the rocket's nose.

Most early Studio Glass artists began their careers creating paperweights and moved on to other forms. Stankard concentrated on creating the most technically sophisticated and beautiful paperweights he could imagine. Stankard is acclaimed for his miniature botanical worlds. Staff from The Henry Ford interviewed the artist in 2016.

- Guided Tour of the 'Roads of the Pacific' Exhibit, California Pacific International Exposition, San Diego, 1935 - The Ford building -- the most popular attraction at the 1935 California Pacific International Exposition -- featured "Roads of the Pacific." Visitors rode in brand new Ford V-8s over 14 realistic reproductions of historic and modern roadways. This photograph shows tourists examining a recreated section of a plank road that negotiated sand dunes between Yuma, Arizona, and San Diego, California.
