- George Washington Carver Museum at Tuskegee Institute, "Carver Museum," circa 1941 - The trustees of Tuskegee Institute authorized creation of the George Washington Carver Museum in honor of the renowned agricultural scientist who spent his entire career at Tuskegee. The museum, dedicated in 1941, displayed Carver's collection of plants, minerals, paintings, drawings, and textile arts. After Carver's death, the Carver Seal Committee sold this and other images to benefit the George Washington Carver Foundation (formed in 1940).

- Children's Museum, 1890-1915 - In 1890, Jenny Young Chandler, 25 years old and recently widowed, began working for the <em>New York Herald</em>. As a photojournalist and feature writer, Chandler captured life in Brooklyn, New York, and vicinity. By 1922, the time of her death, she had produced over 800 glass plate negatives. Her sensitive, insightful photographs depict people from all walks of life and the world in which they lived.
