- Dionne Quintuplet Dolls, 1935-1939 - The Dionne Quintuplets (born 1934) became international celebrities as the first quintuplets to survive infancy. Their home, dubbed "Quintland," was one of Canada's largest tourist attractions, receiving 3,000 daily visitors from 1934 to 1943. To capitalize on the Dionnes' fame, "Madame" Beatrice Alexander secured their exclusive likeness rights in the United States, and her company produced these dolls through the late 1930s.

- Air, Land and Sea Paper Dolls, 1943 - The Saalfield Publishing Company was founded in 1900, at first producing dictionaries and Bibles. The first Saalfield paper dolls were produced in 1918. Military toys and play sets became particularly popular during and just after World War II, when patriotism was especially strong, as evidenced by this set from 1943.

Cornhusk dolls -- homemade, everyday playthings in rural America into the late 1800s -- enjoyed renewed popularity. This doll wears a fashionable 1890s dress dyed blue with painted flowers. She was made by a schoolgirl, probably during the 1950s.
