- Auto Parade, Plasterer's Union Number 167, El Paso, Texas, circa 1913 - In 1913, Henry Ford established Ford Motor Company's photographic department. Though few internal records describe company photography, remaining photographs reveal a wide range of departmental activity. Ford photographers collected images and created new photographs, documenting -- among many other things -- how people incorporated automobiles into their lives. A Texas plasterer's union employed these early cars in a celebratory parade.

- Trade Card for the Buckeye Down Binder, 1870-1900 - In the last third of the nineteenth century, an unprecedented variety of consumer goods and services flooded the American market. Advertisers, armed with new methods of color printing, bombarded potential customers with trade cards. Americans enjoyed and often saved the vibrant little advertisements found in product packages or distributed by local merchants. Many survive as historical records of commercialism in the United States.
