With crewmates Hermann Kohl and James Fitzmaurice, he made the historic flight aboard the airplane <em>Bremen</em> on April 12-13, 1928. The three men received a hero's welcome in New York City. Mayor Jimmy Walker presented this watch to Huenefeld in commemoration of the flight.
