- Music Sheet, "The Children of the Battle Field," 1864 - After the battle of Gettysburg in 1863, a dead Union soldier was found clutching an ambrotype of three children. Publication of the children's image helped identify the soldier as Amos Humiston of the 154th N.Y. Volunteers. This story inspired James Clark to compose "The Children of the Battlefield." Proceeds from the sale of the sheet music helped raise funds to support Humiston's children.
