- "Motion Picture" Magazine for May 1934 - From the beginning of the movie business, Americans wanted to know about the movies and their stars. In 1911, after a flood of inquiries, J. Stuart Blackton, head of Vitagraph Studios, helped to organize the first movie fan magazine -- <em>Motion Picture Story Magazine</em>. The magazine -- later renamed <em>Motion Picture Magazine</em> -- provided fans with stories about film plots and glamorous illustrations of film stars.
