- Compote, 1931-1935 - Flying in the face of economics at the beginning of the Great Depression in 1932, the Libbey Glass Company of Toledo decided to create a new line of high-end glassware. The company hired Arthur Douglas Nash from Louis Comfort Tiffany's staff to oversee the line. Called the "New Era" Nash's limited-production line combined traditional designs like the Tiffany-derived botanical motifs seen in this piece with contemporary 1930s designs.
