- Race Car Driver Eddie Rickenbacker, 1912-1917 - Though better remembered for his aviation activities, Eddie Rickenbacker competed in auto racing from 1906 through 1916. "Fast Eddie" appeared in 42 major races, including twice in the Vanderbilt Cup and five times in the Indianapolis 500. He earned 14 podium finishes, including seven wins. Rickenbacker owned and operated Indianapolis Motor Speedway from 1927 to 1945.

Chevrolet built an impressive career, competing four times each in the Vanderbilt Cup and the Indianapolis 500. But he is best remembered for co-founding Chevrolet Motor Company with Billy Durant in 1911. Chevrolet left his eponymous car company before its merger with General Motors in 1918.
