- Donald John Ackley, a Descendant of Joshua Ackley, Builder of Ackley Covered Bridge - The Ackley Covered Bridge, built in 1832 on land owned by Joshua Ackley, spanned a branch of Wheeling Creek in southwestern Pennsylvania. By the mid-1930s the wooden bridge had outlived its usefulness. Elizabeth Evans, granddaughter of Joshua Ackley, purchased the bridge and offered it to Henry Ford for his Greenfield Village. She also helped document the Ackley family by providing photographs of Joshua and his descendants.
