- Ford Rotunda Construction Site, Dearborn, Michigan, July 31, 1935 - After the Century of Progress Exposition ended in 1934, Ford Motor Company brought its central Rotunda building from that fair back to Dearborn. - Ford Rouge Plant "A" Building, First Structure of the Eagle Boat Factory, March 1918 - Ford Motor Company built Eagle anti-submarine boats for the U.S. Navy during World War I. Ford assembled the boats, using mass production techniques, at a new plant near the mouth of the Rouge River. The factory consisted of three primary buildings. The "A" Building was where steel sheets were cut to size and punched in preparation for riveting.

Assembling automobiles closer to regional markets reduced shipping costs -- parts were cheaper to ship than completed automobiles. Ford established a branch in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1914. Ten years later the company built a modern one-story assembly plant designed by Albert Kahn. Automobile assembly ceased at this plant in 1933.
