Designed and built in consultation with leading medical experts, Henry Ford Hospital employed salaried doctors and charged low, fixed fees to patients. The hospital soon added the training of physicians, surgeons and nurses to its mission. Clinical and laboratory research was conducted at the facility as well.

Additionally, this book contains a record of the process by the numbers, including the number of cans filled, labeled, and packaged for shipping, and the number of damaged cans per week, among other records.

- Graduate, circa 1900 - Veterinarian George Sturm (1904-1980) traveled from farm to farm in the mid-1900s dispensing home-mixed medicines to ailing horses, cows, and other farm animals in areas around Bad Axe, Michigan, where he practiced. Rural veterinarians would often mix their own medicines during this time. Sturm used this chemical graduate -- a tall measuring device with lines indicating exact amounts -- to accurately measure liquid ingredients.
