- Hemlock City, Stage Driver (Edward Warren), 1890-1915 - In 1890, Jenny Young Chandler, 25 years old and recently widowed, began working for the <em>New York Herald</em>. As a photojournalist and feature writer, Chandler captured life in Brooklyn, New York, and vicinity. By 1922, the time of her death, she had produced over 800 glass plate negatives. Her sensitive, insightful photographs depict people from all walks of life and the world in which they lived.

In 1890, Jenny Young Chandler, 25 years old and recently widowed, began working for the New York Herald. As a photojournalist and feature writer, Chandler captured life in Brooklyn, New York, and vicinity. By 1922, the time of her death, she had produced over 800 glass plate negatives. - Extension-Front Brougham, or Clarence, 1840-1860 - The brougham carriage found wide use with affluent private owners and in commercial taxi services. Its compact size made for easy maneuverability, while its drop-center floor and long door provided ready passenger access. This brougham belonged to John J. Tanner, who used it to ferry people between the railroad station and hotel in Brighton, Michigan, from about 1871 to 1910.

Cross-country shipments between factories were made by rail while local deliveries were made by teams of horses and later by automobile.
