"A Golden Nature Guide: Fossils, A Guide to Prehistoric Life," 1962
- Petrified Tree, Yellowstone Park, 1906-1907 - Yellowstone National Park, established 1872, was America's first national park. This petrified redwood tree is a remnant of the trees that were once part of a great primeval forest. Three petrified trees once stood on this site but two were carried off in pieces by souvenir hunters. Later, this remnant was surrrounded with a protective fence.
