- Patent Model of Gas Burner, 1878 - From 1790 to 1880, the U.S. Patent Office required applicants to submit a miniature model along with diagrams and written descriptions detailing the operation of their invention. Patent models could be no larger than 12" by 12" by 12". Though they were usually not operational, these models helped explain an inventor's idea and protect it from competitors.

- Advertising Poster for Edison Mazda Lamps, "Electric Light Bids a Cheerful Welcome," 1925 - One of Norman Rockwell's earliest and most successful advertising campaigns was for the Edison Mazda lighting division of General Electric. These appeared as magazine advertisements, posters and point-of-purchase signs. The company commissioned images by Rockwell and other illustrators, including Maxfield Parrish. Rockwell created no fewer than twenty-four images depicting the power of light during the seven-year-long campaign.
