Hat Pin, circa 1935
- Hatpin, 1850-1860 - Hats were an important part of dress during the late 19th- and early 20th centuries. Women used long hatpins to secure their hats, sliding the hatpin through the top of the hat and into their hair. Simple, functional hatpins had plain bead-like ends. Other hatpins were more ornate and decorative, like this one.
