In 1915, Henry Ford funded a new hospital for Detroit. Designed and built in consultation with leading medical experts, Henry Ford Hospital employed salaried doctors and charged low, fixed fees to patients. The hospital's medical staff included physicians, surgeons and nurses, as well as specialists in orthopedics, radiology, neonatal care, optometry, dentistry, and other fields.

In 1929, the hospital's kitchens prepared nearly 1,200 meals each day. By that point in its history, Henry Ford Hospital had registered more than 132,000 patients.

The original Allen Park VA Medical Center buildings were demolished starting in 2002.

- St. Giles Home (Hempstead), the Swings, 1903-1915 - In 1890, Jenny Young Chandler, 25 years old and recently widowed, began working for the <em>New York Herald</em>. As a photojournalist and feature writer, Chandler captured life in Brooklyn, New York, and vicinity. By 1922, the time of her death, she had produced over 800 glass plate negatives. Her sensitive, insightful photographs depict people from all walks of life and the world in which they lived.

As a photojournalist and feature writer, Chandler captured life in Brooklyn, New York, and vicinity. By 1922, the time of her death, she had produced over 800 glass plate negatives. Her sensitive, insightful photographs depict people from all walks of life and the world in which they lived.
