- Reconstruction of Suwanee Steamboat Hull in Gibraltar, Michigan after Flood Damage, 1970 - After floodwaters swamped the <em>Suwanee</em>, the steamboat's hull was reconstructed to mend the damage. Moving the sternwheeler from the repair shop in Gibraltar, Michigan, back to Greenfield Village, some 20 miles away, was no easy task. The boat's smokestacks, pilot house and upper deck railing were removed, but crews still took special care when passing under bridges with tight clearances.
