- First Day Cover Honoring Rachel Carson, May 28, 1981 - Marine biologist Rachel Carson helped spark the environmental movements of the 1960s with her book <em>Silent Spring</em>. - Milk in Such Containers May Be Unfit for Human Consumption, 1969 - Scientific debates about connections between DDT (a chemical used in pesticides), human health, and environmental degradation escalated in the late 1960s. Environmental activist organizations produced provocative interpretations of scientific data to promote their cause. The Ecology Center published this poster, featuring a photograph by Eli Leon, to raise awareness of the dangers of residual DDT in mothers' breast milk.

He took great care in managing every aspect of the process to ensure the best ingredients for his line of pickled foods, preserves, and condiments.
