- Portrait of Sergeant Barney Litogot, 24th Michigan Infantry, Company K, 1865 - Barney Litogot of Taylor, Michigan, served with the 24th Michigan Volunteer Infantry -- part of the famed "Iron Brigade" -- during the Civil War. Twice wounded, Litogot fought with his unit in many of the Civil War's costliest battles including Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, and Cold Harbor. Litogot was the brother of Henry Ford's mother, Mary. Their brother John died at Fredericksburg in 1862.

- Portrait of Barney Litogot, 24th Michigan Volunteer Infantry, Company K, 1865 - Civil War soldier Barney Litogot sat for this photograph in Springfield, Illinois, in the spring of 1865. Litogot's regiment, the 24th Michigan Volunteer Infantry, was there to serve as honor guard for Abraham Lincoln's funeral. When his regiment mustered out in June, Litogot returned home to the young wife he had left behind nearly three years before. His infant son had died while Litogot was away.

Civil War soldier Barney Litogot sat for this photograph in Springfield, Illinois, in the spring of 1865. The brothers had this photograph taken, posing together in uniform. John Litogot died four months later at the Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia. She posed for this photograph in 1882 with her sons Edward and Artemus. Caroline remarried that year, but this skilled keeper tended her lighthouse until 1885.
