- Midget Racers at Philadelphia Municipal Stadium, 1955 - Philadelphia Municipal Stadium opened in 1926. Over its long life, the venue hosted football games, boxing matches, soccer games, and music concerts. Auto races were held on the stadium's oval track until 1973. The facility was renamed for the late President John F. Kennedy in 1964. It closed in 1989 and was demolished three years later.
