- Snare Drum Used by Frank G. Campbell, 17th Michigan Infantry Regiment, 1864 - A military drum provided rhythm for marching and was an important signaling device for troops in battle. This Civil War drum belonged to Frank G. Campbell, a member of the 17th Michigan Volunteer Infantry. The names of the battles in which his unit participated are painted on the side of the drum.

- Wurlitzer Sideman Model 5000 Electronic Rhythm Box, 1959-1965 - Created in 1959, the Wurlitzer Sideman Rhythm Box was the first commercially available drum machine. The Sideman's mechanical rotating disk emulated ten percussion instruments and ten preset rhythms based on popular genres such as waltzes or rhumba. Although Wurlitzer stopped producing the Sideman in 1969, it was influential on the development of future rhythm machines.

- Confederate Bass Drum, Captured at Missionary Ridge, 1860-1863 - This Confederate drum was captured after the Union victory at the battle of Missionary Ridge near Chattanooga, Tennessee, in November 1863, probably by a member of the 38th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. This Civil War drum was taken to Wauseon, Ohio, where it was preserved as a trophy of war by the local G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic), an organization of Union veterans.
