- Bobby Unser Taking Off from the Starting Line, Pikes Peak Hill Climb, July 4, 1963 - Bobby Unser's three Indianapolis 500 victories were impressive enough, but he really shined at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. He won 13 climbs over 30 years, from 1956 to 1986. During the 1963 contest, Unser raced up the twisting 12.42-mile course in 12 minutes, 30.6 seconds -- an average speed of nearly 60 miles per hour.

Al Unser, seen here, won the climb in 1964 and 1965.
- 42nd Annual Pikes Peak Auto Hill Climb, Colorado Springs, Colorado, July 4, 1964 - Parnelli Jones raced and won everywhere in the 1960s and 1970s -- on dirt tracks, at Pikes Peak, in NASCAR, and in off-road events. He won the Indianapolis 500 as a driver in 1963 and as a team owner, with driver Al Unser, in 1970 and 1971. Off track, Jones sold tires and automotive parts through his retail businesses.
