- Al Unser, Winner of the Pocono 500 Race in 1978, with Jeanetta Holder's Quilt at his Side - Jeanetta Holder combined her loves of sewing and auto racing by creating quilts for the winners of major races. Holder presented a quilt to Al Unser after he took the checkered flag at the Pocono 500 in 1978. Unser also won the 500-mile races at Indianapolis and Ontario that year, giving him the Indy car "Triple Crown."

- Jimmy Caruthers in Eagle-Offy Race Car at Pocono International Raceway, June 1975 - The fifth annual Pocono 500 took place at Pocono Raceway near Blakeslee, Pennsylvania, on June 29, 1975. Gordon Johncock had the pole position in the Indy car event, having qualified at 183.281 mph, but A.J. Foyt took the checkered flag. Due to rain, the 200-lap race was called after just 170 laps had been completed.

Gordon Johncock had the pole position in the Indy car event, having qualified at 183.281 mph, but A.J. Foyt took the checkered flag. Due to rain, the 200-lap race was called after just 170 laps had been completed.
- Salt Walther at Pocono Raceway, 1975 - David "Salt" Walther started in 64 Indy car races and four NASCAR races between 1970 and 1981. He earned his nautical nickname from hydroplane boat races where he also competed. Seriously injured in a crash at the 1973 Indianapolis 500, Walther overcame burns to his body and wounds to his hands and returned to race at Indy the next year.
