- Press Kit for the Dedication of the Henry Ford Postage Stamp in Greenfield Village, July 30, 1968 - The United States Post Office issued a commemorative postage stamp honoring Henry Ford on July 30, 1968 -- the 105th anniversary of Ford's birth. Speakers at the dedication ceremony, held in Greenfield Village, included Postmaster General Marvin Watson, U.S. Representative John Dingell, and Ford Motor Company Chairman and CEO (and Henry Ford's grandson) Henry Ford II.

It was one of the largest mergers in the computer and information technology industry. Both companies had a long lineage of developing cutting-edge computing technology. Burroughs started in the late 1800s producing calculating machines, and Sperry formed in the early 1900s making navigation equipment and later built UNIVAC computers.

The vans used a battery pack of 14 six-volt batteries. Like earlier electric vehicles, these vans had a limited range -- 35 miles from a single charge. The U.S. Postal Service tested a number of these vehicles.

The Holidex system, which allowed customers to book rooms instantly at any Holiday Inn in the country, was an immediate success. It centralized corporate data, streamlined operations, and set a new industry standard for reservation systems.
