- Columbian Exposition Souvenir Punch Cup, 1893 - More than 25 million visitors attended the World's Columbian Exposition - which celebrated the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's landing in America - in Chicago during 1893. Many fairgoers returned home with mementos of the exhibition, such as this souvenir punch cup.

In an era of growing uniformity via factory production, the "made by hand" aspect of these products held an aesthetic appeal for consumers. In 1933, Everlast introduced its first product line, "Forged Giftware" featuring Colonial Revival inspired designs.

At his home studio in the late 1960s, he began fashioning small flame worked novelties and sold them to support his family. This creative outlet was not enough and he began to experiment with making paperweights--a form in which he would excel.
