- Magnavox "Amplivox," Combination Speaker Horn and Amplifier, Model F, Type CA-2, circa 1925 - The Amplivox is a combination loudspeaker and amplifier. It could be used with a microphone to address crowds, or with a radio to amplify music. It was a top-shelf product, condensing several components into an attractive wooden cabinet. By the end of the 1920s, sound reproduction and radio setups were transitioning away from unruly, exposed mechanisms into tastefully crafted housings.
